The Wolverhampton Wanderers have deposited an official offer for left wing Amine Adli from Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The 25-year-old is said to have asked the Bundesliga clubs to record talks about a possible transfer with the Premier League club. The “Bild” newspaper reports on Sunday. Accordingly, however, the ideas in terms of transfer are still apart.
The Leverkusen bosse should imagine up to 30 million euros as desired revenue. In that case, one would let Adli go to the Werkelf, it is said. The attacker, who came from FC Toulouse in 2021 for EUR 7.5 million and contributed three scorers in 20 games in the past Bundesliga season, had extended his contract with Bayer at the end of last year until 2028. After receiving less time under Xabi Alonso, his market value also decreased from 30 million to 18 million euros in the course of the year. Should a deal with Wolverhampton come about, Adli would be the fourth departure towards England this summer after Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong (both to Liverpool FC) and Gustavo Puerta (Hull City).
Adli had been associated with a departure in particular after the sales of Frimpong, Wirtz and Jonathan Tah, to which he is said to have maintained a close relationship. In the Leverkusen training camp in Brazil, however, he had also addressed a possible change.
“There is no reason to talk about a change. First I want to end the training camp. (…) I hope that I will have a season without injuries. My body is fine, I am very confident,” said Adli last week and added to the upcoming Bundesliga season with Bayer 04: “I want to be a crucial player and have a big influence.” This attitude seems to have changed from the Premier League call – at least when it comes to the current reporting.
