Wolt will launch restaurant food robot transport in Kamppi, Helsinki on March 10.

Robots are being tested in the Kamppi area. Wolt

Wolt is the first to start an experiment in Finland where robots deliver restaurants. So far, robots have been accustomed to the transportation of grocery shopping, while the transportation of restaurant portions has so far been handled by people.

The project is a cooperation project for Wolt and the US robotics company Coco.

– We have been testing robots for recent months and transport robots have been integrated on the Wolt platform. We are excited as we can start robot transport from restaurants in Helsinki. This is a significant step forward, diversify our delivery options and at the same time peek into future logistics, says Joel Järvinen, Wolt’s Northern European Chief Operating Officer in the bulletin.

At the beginning of the pilot are restaurants Noodle Master and Hills Dumplings. The transport distance is about three kilometers. Customers in the Kamppi area can choose a robot transportation when ordering if the location and order meet the pilot criteria.

– Our robots are safe and we have a wealth of experience with reliable robotic transport from different cities in the United States, says Logan DoubIn the General Manager in Coco’s Finnish operations.
