Drinking water company WMD will carry out major maintenance on the drinking water factory in Zuidwolde in 2025. To prevent households from running out of drinking water during maintenance, a test will be carried out tomorrow.

The factory in Zuidwolde will be temporarily out of action and drinking water will be supplied from the Ruinerwold and Hoogeveen locations. Vitens also supplies water temporarily. The test examines whether the supply of drinking water is guaranteed in this way during major maintenance to be carried out later.

There is a chance that less water will temporarily come out of the tap during the test. There is also a small chance of brown water. According to WMD, this is not harmful to health. The drinking water company advises to let the tap run for a while if the water is brown, until the water is clear again. WMD also advises against washing laundry, because stains may occur.

On the WMD website states which area may be affected by the test. This concerns the region within the postal code area 7705PA and 7957NG.
