The water jumpers Tina Punzel and Lena Hentschel missed the hoped-for world championship medal in synchronized diving from the three-meter board.

The Tokyo 2021 Olympic bronze medalists finished fourth at the Duna Arena in Budapest. The 26-year-old Punzel and the 21-year-old Hentschel received 282.99 points for their five jumps. The German duo was 11.13 points short of bronze and Australia’s Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith.

As expected, the Chinese Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen secured gold. Rin Kaneto and Sayaka Mikami of Japan took silver. In the pre-fight in the morning, Punzel and Hentschel finished third.

The German jumping team ended the first world championships after the retirement of record European champion Patrick Hausding with a total of one podium place. To start with, Timo Barthel and Lars Rüdiger won bronze in synchronized jumping from the three-meter board.
