Witt Group increases range of certified products

The Witt Group from Weiden now has around 1,000 items in its range that are certified according to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and OCS (Organic Content Standard). In the long term, the group intends to further expand its range of sustainable articles, according to a press release.

At the same time, the Witt Group was certified according to GOTS and OCS. This makes it possible for articles with a proportion of 50 percent or more organic cotton to receive an ecological sustainability seal. For Stefanie Zühlke-Schmidt, Purchasing Manager, the certification is an important success: “We are proud to have successfully completed this demanding certification process. It certifies our high level of commitment to sustainability based on objective, independently verified evaluation criteria.”

Both seals can be found mainly in the area close to the body, but they should also be extended to other areas in the future. However, concrete statements are currently not possible due to the impairment of international transport routes and the tight raw material markets.

The goal is to use at least 65 percent sustainable fibers in the products by 2025, for example by switching to recycled polyester. With the two standards RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) and GRS (Global Recycled Standard), according to which the company will be certified in the external audit at the end of 2022, these items can also be labeled in the future.

With 21.6 million customers worldwide, the group generated sales of EUR 1.23 million (IFRS) in the 2021/22 financial year, with an online share of around 37 percent. The group is one of the leading textile omnichannel companies for the 50+ target group and is currently active with eleven brands in ten countries. It has belonged to the Otto Group since 1987.
