Professional cyclist Jonas Vingegaard fears that two of his most important helpers will lose the overall victory in the Tour de France after the failure.

“They are two important teammates, two very strong drivers, and it doesn’t make me happy that they are no longer in the race. It’s a disadvantage for us, but we’ll continue to fight until Paris,” said the Dane after Steven’s retirement Kruijswijk (Netherlands) and Primoz Roglic (Slovenia).

After a fall on the 15th stage on Sunday, Kruijswijk was transported to Carcassonne in an ambulance. The former tour second Roglic had already left the race before the stage. Jumbo-Visma only has six riders left in the last week of the tour.

“I had a small crash today but I’m fine. The loss of Steven and Primoz is by far the worst news of the day. They were both important teammates for our strategy going forward,” said Vingegaard, who by a margin of 2:22 minutes to the Slovenian defending champion Tadej Pogacar in the last week of the Tour of France. Monday is a rest day for the tour.
