After 40 years: With these words, Tina Turner forgave her ex-husband Ike

Tina Turner forgives her ex-husband Ike Turner, who abused her for years during their time together as a music partner and spouse. “As an old person,” said the 78-year-old “Times” in a new interview, “I forgave him, but I wouldn’t have done anything with him again.”
Ike died in 2007. Before that, he asked Tina if they would go on tour together again. “No, absolutely not. Ike wasn’t someone you forgive and then take back. I’ve put all that time behind me.”
In the conversation, the singer mainly talks about her upcoming musical about her life. But also about the violent ex, from whom she divorced in 1978, and whose musical legacy as “Ike & Tina” she was able to forget in 1983 with the solo hit album “Private Dancer”.

Tina Turner also says that not all memories of Ike are bad ones. Sometimes the similarities come to mind.
“I don’t know what these dreams mean. They are always there. This is not about violence or anger. I wonder if I’m still holding something inside that needs to come out.”

Turner became a star at a young age, but later went through a personal hell parallel to his great success. She almost lost everything – and returned as one of the biggest superstars of the 1980s. In doing so, she triumphed over her ex-husband Ike Turner and all the cruel things he had done to her. Turner is a symbol of self-empowerment, perseverance, and a positive attitude to life.
Her last solo album, “Twenty Four Seven,” was released in 1999. In the same year, after 90 performances, she ended her “Tina! 50th Anniversary” tour marked her great stage career with a concert in Sheffield, Great Britain.

Turner died on May 24, 2023 at the age of 83. Her colleagues were dismayed. “We have lost one of the most exciting and electric artists in the world. An absolute legend on record and on stage. She was untouchable,” wrote Elton John. Tina Turner was without question one of the great singers of our time.
