The third and current solo single by the The xx singer was supported by three top-class producers who sampled two songs for it. Her wife directed the music video.
Romy Madley Croft has released new single “Enjoy Your Life” and accompanying music video. The song was co-produced with Fred again.., Stuart Price and The xx colleague Jamie xx. It was directed by Vic Lentaigne, the singer’s wife.
In a statement she wrote about it at Instagram: “When I heard the line ‘My mother tells me enjoy your life’ by Beverly Glenn-Copeland, I was speechless. […] Ever since I was 11, I’ve been aware of and drawn to the phrase: life is short. […] It touched me especially deeply because my mother died when I was 11 years old and that’s the way I saw life in the first place. […] I want to say a big thank you to Glenn for allowing me to sample this song. […] All my love and thanks to the amazing team Fred, Jamie and Stuart Price for all their brilliant ideas and for staying with me on the journey to this song.”
In addition to Beverly Glenn-Copeland’s “La Vita”, the song “Enjoy Your Life” by Nigerian disco and pop singer Oby Onyioha from 1981 was also sampled.
After “Lifetime” and “Strong”, which Fred again.. also co-produced, this is the 33-year-old’s third solo release. She is currently working on her first album, but no release date has been announced yet.
