Winy van Dam-Weits (91) grew up opposite the farm of the Drenth family in Stadskanaal. In what would later be called the Stadskanaalster Achterhuis, a total of sixteen people in hiding, including thirteen Jews and a deserted Austrian soldier, were hidden. “My mother warned that there were many shirts on the clothesline.”
