What a cheer. Adam Ammour from Giessen became European champions in the four-man bobsleigh together with his brother Issam on Sunday. Also because he imitated his older brother a lot in his life. An injury finally put him on the path to bobsleigh success.
At the finish, the two brothers from Giessen, Adam and Issam Ammour, were all smiles. They had just become European champions in the four-man bobsleigh on the St. Moritz track. A real surprise. The success left Adam Ammour in disbelief: “Now we are European champions, you can’t put it into words.” During the winning interview on ARD, the 24-year-old immediately thought of his family at home: “Greetings to my mom at home.”
The family played a big part in his first European title. Luckily, Adam Ammour has imitated his brother Issam, who is eight years older than him, in his life. A sports accident led him to bobsleigh. Issam had been active there as a pusher since 2015, Adam was still a gymnast, including at TSV Allendorf/Lahn. But he broke his wrist in a fall and then made the decision to stop gymnastics.
Ammour: from gymnast to European Bobsleigh Champion
Adam Ammour followed his brother into bobsleigh. As a pilot. Issam became his pusher in 2023. And once again the younger one imitated his older brother. Adam Ammour has been an eagle bearer since 2025. He moved – like Issam two years earlier – to the bobsleigh department of Eintracht Frankfurt, where he trains on the 75-meter-long bobsleigh track in Frankfurt-Niederrad, which was inaugurated in September.
Ideally close for him as a Giessen resident. And since then, Adam Ammour has also seen a few professional football games in the Waldstadion. The fact that Eintracht also means bobsleigh is thanks to him.
Stay fit until the Olympics
With the European Championship title in St. Moritz, Adam Ammour and his bobsleigh crew naturally arouse interest. Anyone who wins a title around a month before the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina also has a say on the Olympic bobsleigh track in South Tyrol. An Olympic medal would of course be the dream goal for the bobsleighing brothers from Giessen. And also for Joshua Taschen, he also sits as a pusher in the Ammour-Bob, he also starts for Eintracht Frankfurt.
“This is the first Olympic Games for all of us. Now it’s important that we all stay fit,” said Adam Ammour. But now it’s time to confirm St. Moritz’s success. The World Cup race in Winterberg follows next Sunday and is the last big test before the games on the recently completed Olympic bobsleigh track in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
A little foretaste Olympic dressing
The favorite at the Olympics – as in every race this winter – is the German bobsleigh competitor led by pilot Johannes Lochner. But the Ammour brothers can now also figure something out. An Olympic medal for Eintracht Frankfurt and mom at home, that would be something.
However, Adam Ammour has to be patient, the competition in the four-man bobsleigh will only take place on the penultimate day of the Olympic Games on February 21st. There was already a little foretaste of the Olympics this Monday. Adam Ammour was at the official outfitting of the German Olympic team in Munich and was able to practice the cheering pose (see photo) for the photographer.
