Wind gusts of up to 110 kilometers per hour expected, storm Ciarán closer

Storm Ciarán could be very noisy on Thursday. The storm is currently still raging across the Atlantic Ocean, but it will arrive here on Thursday. The KNMI has declared code yellow for that day.

According to weatherman Jan Visser, the forecasts may change in the near future, but for the time being wind gusts of up to 110 kilometers per hour are expected. The wind can be strong, especially on the coast and around the IJsselmeer.

“This storm has a southerly wind. That is not so bad for our country, because that means that the wind comes over land. That makes the wind force less strong,” Visser said. He expects the wind gusts to be the strongest early on Thursday evening, but to decrease during the evening.

Storm of death

Terms such as ‘storm of death’ and ‘horror storm’ are used on social media, but Visser calls that nonsense. He does say that the storm could be worse than predicted so far, but “also less.” There will be a bit of wind on Friday, but a lot less. The chance of rain remains.
