Win against Hoffenheim: Gladbach is heading towards Europe

As of: December 2nd, 2023 5:33 p.m

Borussia Mönchengladbach celebrated their third home win in a row and thus, at least temporarily, made it into the top half of the table. The Gladbachers won 2-1 against 1899 Hoffenheim at Borussia Park on Saturday (December 2nd, 2023).

Mönchengladbach was able to continue the upward trend of the past few weeks, interrupted by the 4-2 defeat at BVB the previous week, and climbed to eighth place in the table with the win.

Hoffenheim, on the other hand, has been waiting for a win for four league games, but is currently maintaining a place in the international ranks.

N’Goumou scores Gladbach’s winning goal

Alassane Pléa gave Borussia the lead with a penalty in the 58th minute – it was the first shot on the goal of Hoffenheim keeper Oliver Baumann, who was overcome from the spot for the first time this season after three previous penalty saves.

Gladbach’s joy at taking the lead lasted less than 120 seconds – then Wout Weghorst scored the equalizer with a header. But Nathan N’Goumou struck again for Borussia ten minutes before the end – left completely alone by Wolfsburg’s defense, the Frenchman ice-coldly scored the winning goal.
