Wimbledon: Stich shoots against Kyrgios: “Can’t take him anymore”

After the heated third-round duel between Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas at the classic lawn in Wimbledon, the Australian is now facing heavy criticism.

“I can’t stand him on the pitch any longer,” shot Michael Stich in “sky“Podcast “Maddog & Wingman” against Kyrgios and explained: “This eternal discussion, this lamentation. Also his way of always presenting himself as the innocent. The kid needs to think about what he’s contributing to all of this.”

When Kyrgios scored 6: 7 (2: 7), 6: 4, 6: 3, 7: 6 (9: 7) against Tsitsipas, there were warnings on both sides. The Australian demanded a disqualification from his opponent when he hit a ball on the stands. In addition, Tsitsipas was warned when he tried to hit a return on Kyrgios and hit the scoreboard.

Kyrgios took on the referees, asking referee Damien Dumusois “Are you stupid?”, calling him a “shame” and repeatedly using swear words.

“I just can’t see it anymore, I would be so happy if the boy just played tennis,” said Stich. After all, the mental component is also part of the talent. “And he lacks that. He doesn’t have the overall package that a Djokovic, Nadal, a Federer have,” said the 1991 Wimbledon champion.

Kühnen suspects calculus in Kyrgios

Former Daivs Cup captain Patrik Kühnen even suspects calculation in Kyrgios’ behavior. “Now I’m wondering if he consciously creates this atmosphere in order to have the environment in which he prefers to play tennis,” said the 56-year-old.

The scandal match now has consequences for both players. Winner Kyrgios was fined $4,000 for foul language and Tsitsipas was fined $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

After the defeat, Tsitsipas had accused his co-trahent of “bullying”.. “He bullies his opponents, he was probably tormented himself at school,” said the Greek.
