Hubert Hurkacz hopes to be able to raise a lot of money at Wimbledon for aid campaigns for Ukraine. The Polish tennis player said the night before the grand slam tournament starts that he transfers 100 euros for every ace he hits.

Hurkacz, who has been seeded seventh in London, is third on this year’s list of players who hit the most aces. He has recorded 452 so far and only has to tolerate the Americans John Isner and Reilly Opelka.

“I would like to announce that I promise to donate 100 euros for every ace I hit at Wimbledon. I hope my service is in order,” said Hurkacz, who will face Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the first round.

The Wimbledon organization has banned tennis players from Russia and Belarus from participating this year because of the invasion of Ukraine. Tennis association ATP is not happy with that. For that reason, the participants cannot earn points for the world ranking this time.
