– I told Wilma, when she left for the trip, that I would be here alone screaming, Tarja Murto81, says.

– But it doesn’t belong until Budapest.

Monday’s pole vault Wilma Murto cleared all four of his jumps in his first – including the qualifying mark of 465. That raises expectations in the home stands.

– Yes, they are that big, grandma says.

– I hope that Wilma succeeds in her jumping. You can see from his face that he has exactly the same grip on him, let’s go now!

Last year, Tarja Murto was in Munich to witness in the stands of the stadium, when Wilma Murto won the European championship with her amazing record jumps.

– All in all, it was one of the best trips I’ve ever had.

– Wilma then shouted to me at the edge of the field when the interviewers and cameramen came, “Mom, then don’t say anything inappropriate”, Tarja Murto says with a laugh.

This time, grandma is watching the competition via TV at her home in Salon Kuusjoki.

– Yes, there is a big group here admiring Wilma and hoping that everything will go well. I think Wilman Kalle-brother comes here with his girlfriend to watch with me, as they live right next door.

– So there are plenty of screamers here!

In Budapest, Murto is supported by his parents Checkmate and Sari and a boyfriend Jaakko Linkoheimo.
