Willie Wartaal hardly appears on television these days. The rapper himself claims that that is his own choice. In his own words, he doesn’t feel like showing up in all kinds of celebrities programs anymore. “Yes. I don’t understand why I have to participate in a stupid game,” he says in conversation with Veronica Superguide.

15,000 euros

To get him in a program, a TV producer has to put at least 15,000 euros on the table. “It’s only fun if it’s really lucrative, say from 15,000 euros.”

Below that amount, they don’t have to call Willie. “I prefer to do my own things: I go into the theatre, I am working on solo music, next year a new album will be released with De Jeugd and I am making a kind of soap opera.”

Own soap series

Your own soap opera? Nothing is known about that yet. “It’s about me and my family, but in a different universe. I notice that people find the concept of a dark family in a soap crazy, because you hardly ever see that.”

He continues: “But we also have families and family life, so I’m going to show that. It will be on TV or online, we are all still figuring that out.”
