Willem II was close to fourth place in the ranking of the Kitchen Champion Division. The Tilburg team had it with a victory over the strong Jong AZ, but they were surprised in extra time: 2-2. An extra setback was that Jizz Hornkamp, who scored once in Alkmaar, received a yellow card. As a result, the striker will miss the top match on his own field against leader PEC Zwolle on Friday.
Young AZ – Willem II 2-2
Willem II quickly took the lead through Elton Kabangu. He made it 0-1 in the 7th minute. Fifteen minutes later it was already 0-2: Hornkamp converted a penalty kick. So no problem in the air, it seemed to the formation of Reinier Robbemond. After the break, she was much less involved and Jurre van Aken scored on behalf of Jong AZ. No more goals were scored in the remaining 35 minutes. Willem II seemed relieved to get the final signal, but was still given the equalizer by substitute Jayden Addai.
Young PSV – NAC Breda 1-2
Feddy Leysen surprised the whole of NAC in the 21st minute with a goal straight from a corner, with a Breda defender giving the shot an extra push with his head. It was not an undeserved lead for Jong PSV. The erratic performance of NAC this season turned out better in the second half. Cuco Martina, 33, led the way. As the new captain, the ‘old hand’ led by example. First, in the 52nd minute, he fumbled the 1-1 over the line and in the 70th minute he hit the ball hard behind PSV’s promising keeper Kjell Peersman: 1-2.
Ismael Saibari in particular could blame himself for the fact that Jong PSV was left empty-handed at its own Herdgang. The wing attacker, who is regularly used in the first team of coach Ruud van Nistelrooij, missed two opportunities.
De Graafschap – Helmond Sport 2-0
Two hard and smart headers from Devin Haen made the difference in Doetinchem. The attacker hit the target both before (15.) and after the break (49.). Helmond Sport struggled, but ultimately fell short. It was therefore a somewhat disappointing match, which was rightly won by De Graafschap.
Young Ajax – TOP Oss 1-2
Last season, TOP Oss was dried off at De Toekomst. This Monday evening, the Osse formation came out on top. In the 41st minute she surprisingly took the lead thanks to a hit by Rick Stuy van den Herik. Kay Tejan was completely released after an hour by the defense of Jong Ajax and that meant the 0-2. Ajax then aimed for the equalizer and got it in sight with a goal in the 61st minute from Kristian Hlynsson. However, TOP did not allow more.
