Wilfred Genee has done it: he has created a solo show for Sunday at John de Mol. But when will he be seen on SBS 6? “Better at 5pm.”
It was a demand from Wilfred Genee during the negotiations about Today Inside: his own show in which he interviews celebrities. And that will happen, although he also has to provide a budget through a sponsor. According to Tina Nijkamp, the intended time, on Sunday morning when WNL on Sunday and Business Class are also shown, is not a good option.
Viewership fatpot
Tina, who has been at the helm of SBS 6 for years, fears for the viewing figures. “Which viewing figures should Wilfred think about on Sunday morning? Business Class scores 40,000 to 50,000 viewers every Sunday at 10:30 am on RTL 7. So that is not the viewing figure that is called VI,” she writes on her analysis channel.
“WNL on Sunday scores well at 10 a.m.: 400 to 500 thousand viewers on NPO 1. But that is in a good programming field with (soon again) Ivo and Buitenhof. A beautiful train. SBS 6 currently scores around 100,000 viewers on Sundays between 10 a.m. and 12 noon.”
Better option
What does Tina think is a better option? “I had hoped for Wilfred that it would late night This could be because it has a better chance of attracting more viewers than Sunday during the day. Sunday 5 p.m. could still be possible at Life 4 You time, but in the morning it will be a maximum of 125 thousand viewers, I think.”
The Carlo Boszhard and Irene Moors show Life 4 You, previously Life & Cooking, was a success for years on Sundays between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, but never had a successor. Will Wilfred make it now, but on SBS 6?
‘Hope so’
It would be better, says Tina. “I hope for Wilfred that it is in the afternoon and not early Sunday morning, which it seems like, because he always talks about a Business Class-like program.”
“Well, that won’t work, because it only has about 40 to 50 thousand viewers on RTL 7 and that is really an in-crowd cult hit, but not very interesting for the viewers at home, as is evident from the viewing figures.”
