Victor Vlam is the ideal person to succeed Jack van Gelder in Hélène Hendriks’ talk show, says Johan Derksen. “If Jack isn’t there, I think you need Victor Vlam there.”
Wilfred Genee is so successful because of his one-two punch with Johan Derksen. The opinionating role of the Today Inside mustache is very decisive for the success of their program. The so-called Derksen role is also important for Hélène Hendriks’ Oranje talk show. However, due to misconduct behind the scenes, Jack van Gelder is out.
“Victor in!”
It causes Hélène an acute problem, because there is currently no one who can succeed Jack with dignity. Rutger Castricum is extremely boring as a sidekick, Raymond Mens does better in the role of an American expert and Thomas van Groningen fits in much better as Hélène’s substitute. What should be done now?
Johan Derksen only sees one option. “If Jack is not there, I think you need Victor Vlam there,” he says Today Inside. “He can fill the same role. We all think that’s a terrible nonsense, but he is very important for a program.”
Talpa contract
It must be a special honor for Victor that Johan, of all people, nominates him for the Derksen role with Hélène. Is a big Talpa contract coming up? Or is the aversion to Victor too great at the SBS offices? Hélène herself is happy with the boring Rutger, and Victor has suggested Valentijn Driessen as a possibility.
What does Tina Nijkamp think of Johan’s plan to put Victor forward? “Yes, only he is less known,” she responds in VI. “And what’s nice about Jack: I also grew up with him. For me, Jack was the hero of Studio Sport. He was someone. Anyway, Victor Vlam might be an idea.”
Audition
Valentijn Driessen also happens to be sitting at the VI table. “Victor Vlam had put me forward. I see this as an audition, especially with Tina next to me and John de Mol’s advisor. It is a shame for the program (that Jack is leaving, ed.).”
For the time being, Victor is Hélène’s most talked-about dinner guest. For example, Bram Moszkowicz almost came to his throat last year because of criticism of his best friend Gordon. “You need to shut up now!”
