Speculations about Daniel Craig’s successor have been rife for three years now. In “No Time To Die” he was seen for the last time as James Bond. Now it seems a favorite is emerging for the role of MI6 agent. If a British tabloid has its way, Aaron Taylor-Johnson currently has the best chance of playing the world-famous secret agent in the service of Her Majesty in the next 007 film.

“He’s one of the front runners now”

The 32-year-old actor is said to have convinced Bond producer Barbara Broccoli in particular during a secret audition at Pinewood Studios. “Aaron did a screen test in September to become the next Bond, and the producers and Barbara loved him,” quotes the “Sun” as an anonymous source: “He’s now one of the frontrunners.” This has not yet been officially confirmed. The only thing that is certain is that those responsible have not yet made a decision. If you take a look at the rumor mill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has some notable competition. Among others, Tom Hardy, James Norton and Idris Elba are said to be in the running for the iconic role; Henry Cavill and Regé Jean-Page are also repeatedly mentioned as possible actors.

Taylor-Johnson’s breakthrough role came in 2009 with the John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy. In 2014 and 2015 he played Quicksilver in the Marvel films The Return of the First Avenger and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Most recently, he starred in the thriller Bullet Train alongside Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock.
