We save ourselves the ski vacation…

Over a quarter of holidaymakers in the winter sports resorts could stay away this year. The Institute “Yougov” interviewed 2000 adults. The customer was the Schöffel company, a manufacturer of sportswear.

Of the potential vacationers, 26 percent said they would forgo skiing this winter. 23 percent are currently thinking about how they could save at the moment. These include: no longer traveling as far or no longer going on piste skiing on vacation, taking a shorter winter vacation than planned, going to après-ski less often or stopping at huts.

A clear commitment to winter holidays came from only a quarter of those who occasionally go on winter holidays.

That doesn’t bode well for the ski resorts. Almost two-thirds (63 percent) of those who took part in the survey said they would rather go snowshoeing in the winter. Other alternative activities that are possible without lift tickets: cross-country skiing, ski tours or winter cycling.
