In daily life, Karel Sabbe (34) is a dentist in Ronse, but the Anzegem resident is even more known as an ultrarunner. Less than ten years after his first marathon, he continues to push his sporting boundaries. In March he managed to complete the grueling Barkley Marathons in just under 60 hours. Later this year he walked the Pacific Crest Trail, from Mexico to Canada. Although he had to make a 165 kilometer detour due to forest fires, he managed to break the record again. He covered approximately 4,300 kilometers in just 46 days.
