The air at the battered Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart is obviously getting thicker and thicker. According to the latest media reports, discrepancies at the management level are not only increasing because of the disastrous search for a coach.
Domenico Tedesco, Sebastian Hoeneß, Dino Toppmöller: They are said to have already canceled when they were asked by the table penultimate for a possible position as head coach.
The fact that VfB Stuttgart is currently finding it so difficult to find a coach is probably not least due to the quarrels between CEO Alexander Wehrle and sports director Sven Mislintat.
Consistent media reports said that the VfB manager himself could be thrown out in the country. The relationship with the new CEO Alexander Wehrle is said to have been disrupted for a long time.
Noisy “sky“-Information from Friday, the Swabians have even had talks with a potential successor to Sven Mislintat, who has been working as sports director for Stuttgart for three and a half years and still has an ongoing contract until summer 2023.
As the media report goes on to say, Horst Heldt should be CEO Wehrle’s first choice.
However, the 47-year-old assured on Friday evening to the “table football“that there have not been any discussions: “I have not negotiated with a sports director or with a coach,” Wehrle told the specialist magazine.

The personality of Horst Heldt remains exciting for two reasons. On the one hand, the ex-pro looks back on extremely successful years at VfB Stuttgart. After the end of his active career, he switched to management at VfB in 2006 and was therefore one of the leading figures in the 2007 Swabian sensations championship.
Due to his move to FC Schalke 04 in 2010, however, he is by no means popular in the VfB Stuttgart environment.
Heldt has also worked with Wehrle before. The two worked for 1. FC Köln as sporting directors and managing directors between 2019 and 2021 and therefore still know each other very well.
Heldt would be available immediately and could follow Mislintat directly if the tense relationship with Wehrle could no longer be mended.
