The ratings hit Even Tot Hier seems to be on its way out: the viewing figures are slumping and now they also have to deal with a merciless column from Tina Nijkamp. “It’s so angry.”
There is something strange going on with Even Tot Hier: in terms of format, the ratings hit by Niels van der Laan and Jeroen Woe is quite repetitive, but in terms of tone there is a change. According to Tina Nijkamp, it is only getting angrier. And especially angry about the current right-wing cabinet. The result? Declining viewing figures, she writes The Telegraph.
Ratings drop
Tina notices that Even Tot Hier has about 100 to 200 thousand fewer viewers this season than last year. With 1.6 million viewers, the show is still a hit, but according to her the fall in ratings is ‘remarkable’. “I personally notice that the show has become very political this fall.”
It is ‘actually a big angry political pamphlet’, according to the ratings authority. “Every week with Fabertje’s haircut here and Pieter Omtzigt’s tears there. In addition, there is a lot less humor than before.”
Laugh less
According to her, Even Tot Hier is suddenly less about laughter and Tina thinks that is a ‘shame’. “I notice that I watch it with less concentration, sometimes even get bored and if I don’t watch live, but watch back, I often press the forward button, instead of wanting to see every minute like I used to.”
Given the declining viewing figures, she believes more people have that. And according to Tina, that means that action must be taken quickly. Especially that eternal ‘hey, hey, isn’t that that song?’ starts to annoy her. “It seems terribly difficult to come up with new ingredients for such a successful formula, but I think the time has come.”
