It seems that Chantal Janzen, like Wendy van Dijk, is becoming a victim of the zapping entertainment viewer. Will her musical comeback come just in time? “These are really dramatic figures.”
Major TV entertainment is becoming less and less popular with Dutch viewers. He would rather turn on the TV for a talk show than another studio program with a presenter who is completely absorbed glam stands. It has already cost the first A-star the head: Wendy van Dijk has been on the couch for most of the year, because SBS 6 has nothing for her anymore.
Horror evening
Chantal Janzen is now threatening to follow her, because her program Oh What A Year seems to be on the verge of death. The current season scored extremely poorly on RTL 4’s Saturday evening, as was the case last weekend.
The Telegraph even talks about ‘a horror evening for RTL 4’. “Chantal Janzen went back to 2015 this time, but that time trip only attracted a sad 492 thousand viewers.”
Worrying
Caroline Tensen also scored poorly with only 452 thousand viewers for One against 100. “These were approximately the same viewing figures as Robert ten Brink attracted with FriendsLoterij millionaires before RTL shelved that game indefinitely.”
Both ladies should be concerned, according to the newspaper. “Saturday evening is one of the most important evenings of the week, especially for commercial channels. Advertising rates are adjusted based on viewing density. Especially on a large channel like RTL 4, it should be possible to reach a linear audience of around 800,000 viewers.”
What does Tina say?
TV authority Tina Nijkamp agrees with her analysis channel agrees with the conclusion of De Telegraaf. “RTL 4 indeed had a horror evening. The change from Sunday to Saturday in particular turned out to be dramatic for Caroline Tensen and her Een tegen 100. It appears to be a huge programming blunder.”
And what does she think of Oh What A Year? Chewed out. The cake is gone, she says. “Yes, it’s huge. That will be done at some point indeed. It gives me an I Love Holland vibe. Now we know. All the years have already visited Oh Wat Een Jaar twice… It won’t be long before we see the year 2025 in 2026…”
A blessing in disguise for Chantal? She will make her musical comeback next year. Coincidence or strategy?
