The Birdy Bush bird area in Wildlands zoo will reopen on Saturday. No bird flu has been detected among the birds in the park, Wildlands reports.

On March 7, Wildlands announced that Birdy Bush would close for three weeks as a precaution, according to protocol. The measure followed the sudden death of three Madagascar crested ibises.

The death was considered suspicious, which is why the cadavers were sent to Utrecht University for examination.

Checks were also carried out on twenty other birds from the bird area. This also did not reveal any bird flu.

It is not known exactly what caused the ibises to die. Two of the three did have a viral illness, but Wildlands was only told by the NVWA that it was not bird flu, says a spokesperson. The park says it is relieved.
