This means that the fire is under control, even if it is not yet completely out. On Friday evening, the safety region announced that the greatest danger had passed.
The fire brigade remains present for further handling. The area may still have to deal with odor nuisance for “some time”.
The wildfire broke out on Wednesday during a military exercise on the 500-hectare defense site. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire caused a nuisance for days, especially in the immediate area, but the smoke and stench initially moved west across the country. Smoke was even seen off the coast of England. The fire had several sources and the fight included Chinook helicopters from Defense and a platoon from Germany.
