A Eindhovenaar was guilty of three attempts to manslaughter at the end of October 2021 when he drove his car on two police cars. The court in Den Bosch has imposed a three -year prison sentence for this. He also loses his driver’s license for 1.5 years and has to pay around 5000 euros in compensation.
The now 30-year-old motorist was chased by the police at night, after ignoring a stop sign. The Eindhoven citizen ran away with an enormous speed. Via Haaren, Boxtel and Esch he set course for Eindhoven, after which the car in Waalre could be put aside.
But that didn’t go without a struggle. A road blockade was set up on Willibrorduslaan in Waalre, but the driver did not get rid of that either. He rammed a number of police cars before he had to stop his wild race. Even then, the Eindhoven resident thought he could be too fast for the officers. With the two people from then 17 and 20 who were also in his car, he put it on a run. In vain, after a short chase, including with a police dog, the trio was still caught in the collar.
The two passengers eventually gone free; The driver had to answer for the court in Den Bosch two weeks ago. He would have almost hit a police car at a speed of 150 kilometers, the judge explained to him. The Eindhoven resident said that one of his passengers had pulled the wheel, but the judge found this statement unbelievable.
Furthermore, it was established that the man drove extremely dangerous and that he knew that the license plates were taped on his car. And that too is a traffic violation.
The public prosecutor demanded two years in prison and a one -year driving denial, with a probationary period of one year. The lawyer of the Eindhoven resident suggested an even lower punishment.
The court was stricter. In any case, he did not want to impose a conditional punishment, this ‘to secure society’. The resident of the Eindhoven also played a few months earlier on the probationary period of an earlier conviction. He did have the ‘luck’ that the trial has taken for so long, otherwise he would have been in prison for four years.
