A two-year-old child and her 37-year-old mother died of the injuries they sustained at the attack that took place on Thursday in Munich. The German police announced this on Saturday evening to DPA news agency.

A 24-year-old man was deliberately ran from behind with a mini Cooper on a crowd in the center of Munich. At that time, a strike march from trade union Verdi was going on. According to the police, the suspect had a “religious motive” for his act.

At least 39 were injured in the attack. On Saturday, a hospital reported that two of them, the mother and the child, were in critical condition. The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the place of the attack on Saturday. He put down a rose and said that “anyone who does things like this can expect the toughest punishments.”
