Wietze de Jager gets a different time slot? No, he’s out at 538!’

According to critics, the official story that Wietze de Jager trades in his morning show on Radio 538 for a different time slot is only partially correct. In the end, they just fly out.

After all the complaining of Wietze de Jager about how hard it is to combine a daily morning show with his life as a family man, he will be replaced by Radio 538 after the summer, just like his buddy Klaas van der Eerden. The official story is that he will get a different time slot, but critics don’t believe that at all.

‘Wietze is out!’

Media journalist Mark Koster even has information that Wietze just flies out of the channel. “Weetze just had to get out of there. I then have two sources for it,” he says in the podcast The Juice Show. “What seems? The program just didn’t score! He had to get rid of that time slot. He knew that.”

Wietze is therefore not entirely honest, he says. “We still thought: that nice boy from Zwolle with his Reformed head, that honest boy. Then the whole story around it was invented: yes, I prefer to stay at home.”

Made up story

Co-host Yvonne Coldeweijer is not surprised. “Of course it is always the case that everyone can come up with their own exit, right? They always give you that from above. If you are fired, you can say yourself: ‘No, no, no, it’s because of me.’ So Wietze was just kicked out?”

Mark: “I called a few people about that. Two people call you and say, ‘Mark, what do you think? That’s a made-up story!’”

“Don’t believe any of it!”

Media connoisseur Victor Vlam also does not believe that Wietze will continue at 538. He says in the podcast The Communicados: “I really don’t believe that at all. I don’t believe that’s going to happen. Maybe he will get a different time slot for a while, but I think his career at Talpa is really over.”

What does he base that on? “I base that on the fact that he was treated really hard at Shownieuws from Talpa channel SBS. Talpa is not known for being very hard on its own people, so if that does happen, it makes one think: what is going on here?”

No trust

Patty Brard, Evert Santegoeds, Frits Huffnagel and Ronald Molendijk destroyed him at the desk, according to Victor. “When you work at Talpa you always have to feel very good: can I say this? The fact that they think they have the freedom to say this indicates to me that it is clear that John de Mol no longer has any confidence in Wietze.”

Co-host Lars Duursma: “What you’re actually saying here is: you don’t have to ask what John de Mol thinks, because if you watch Shownieuws often enough and you watch how the entire panel speaks about certain people, then you actually know also how John de Mol looks? Because if John de Mol had big plans for someone, he would have called an editor somewhere: ‘Tune down a little bit.’”

Victor: “Absolutely.”

Talpa denies

According to Evert Santegoeds, Talpa denies that Wietze will soon be on the street. He says in his podcast Strictly Private: “The channel denies that. They are also talking to him about finding another program for him, at a different time slot. When that should be, I don’t know.”

He continues: “Obviously during the weekend, but yes, then he will have to go to football with his newest son, so that is not convenient. In the evening we know what Wietze de Jager is doing: then number five and number six will probably also come. So it will be a bit of trial and error.”

“But it is nice that they want to continue with him, because he has not made that much of an impression with his program there so far.”
