The decision to not appoint Minister Crevits means that the Heuvelland city council is requested to nominate a new designated mayor. Wieland De Meyer can no longer be appointed mayor as mayor during the current boarding period 2024-2030 on the basis of the current regulations, and cannot perceive this office. He can appeal to the Council of State.

The mayor’s mandate is observed until the oath of the new designated mayor by first ships Bart Vanacker (photo below). The second voting champion of the same list as De Meyer will, as described in the Decree, be invited to record the mandate of designated mayor and take the oath in the hands of the chairman of the city council. This is followed by another appointment process in which the minister will make a decision about the appointment of the new designated mayor.
