Shortly After Her Wedding!
Wiebke van Hoorn has been battling a rare and aggressive cancer for five years. Now, at just 27, she shares a heartbreaking message — not one of joy, but of farewell.

No More Cancer Therapy! Wiebke van Hoorn (27) Ends Her Relentless Fight

The words resonate deeply: “It is with a heavy heart that I am writing my last official post on this channel,” Wiebke van Hoorn shared on Instagram. The 27-year-old has been fighting an aggressive adrenal cortical carcinoma for five years.

Through her Instagram channel, she has openly shared the ups and downs with her community, discussing chemotherapy, rehabilitation stays, and the reality of living with cancer. But now, her account is coming to an end for a heartbreaking reason: “Unfortunately, the progression of my disease has advanced to a point that, after careful discussion, we have decided to cease all treatments,” Wiebke revealed.

She finds solace in her faith and the presence of family and close friends by her side daily. Moreover, she receives compassionate care from a palliative care team in Emden.

From Back Pain to Cancer: Wiebke’s Life Changed Forever

Only at the end of last year did Wiebke discuss in an RTL interview how shocked she was by her diagnosis. Being just 22 at the time, she went to the doctor with what seemed like harmless back pain. Shortly thereafter, she was diagnosed with a ten-centimeter tumor, known as adrenal cortical carcinoma.

Since then, Wiebke has battled this rare and aggressive cancer, undergoing surgeries and chemotherapy. Despite her efforts, she is now classified as a palliative patient after five years. Yet, she continues to lead her life: she starts a dual degree and marries her partner in June 2026, who proposed at the beginning of 2025.

Cancer Influencer Thanks Her Followers: “I Was Given So Much Love Here”

“I thank everyone here who has followed, supported, and encouraged me for over five years,” Wiebke expressed in her Instagram post. She feels overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from her community. It was particularly important for her to share her experiences to help others in similar situations.

I was given so much love here,” she confesses gratefully, concluding her post with the touching words: “Thank you for everything, yours Wiebke.”
