Wilfred Genee’s wife has had quite a nice media tour. Avid TV viewers and radio listeners will not have noticed that she has published a booklet. But why wasn’t she in VI?
Lili Genee is reaping the benefits of being the wife of a well-known TV presenter. Wilfred Genee’s life companion has published a somewhat vague book about health and was given quite a few opportunities to draw attention to it on radio and television. For example, she was allowed to sit with Beau van Erven Dorens.
A bit sticky
For Lili, all that media attention is a bonus, because publicity in a mass medium directly boosts sales. Johan Derksen’s friendship undoubtedly also helped. He extensively praised Lili’s book at the Today Inside talk show table and she is very grateful to him for that.
But why didn’t Lili actually take advantage of the opportunity to sit at the bar herself at VI? That would certainly have created a nice dynamic and a huge amount of media attention in any case. “I find it so boring to sit there at the bar,” she says in the Weekend.
‘That’s different’
Yet Lili was in the radio program that Wilfred makes. What’s the difference? “At BNR, health is discussed and I was one of the others. Moreover, I was interviewed by a sidekick, at VI Wilfred interviews.”
It is not that she does not want to be in Today Inside because she does not like the program, she emphasizes. “I would really like it, but you also have to know your place, in a positive professional sense.”
