There are fears that Russia will soon annex another part of Europe: Transnistria, a ragged area wedged between Ukraine and Moldova. Transnistria itself is asking to join Putin’s empire. But he has good reasons not to respond to that – at least for the time being. One of those reasons is an ammunition depot located in Transnistria. One and a half kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The largest in Europe, it is even rumored. But why does that stop Putin?
