Last Friday evening, misogynistic comments were regularly made. “When the police spoke to the young people about this, discussions always arose. They were then sent away, but only from place A to B. The problems shifted and continued,” says Carree.
More powers for police
With an emergency ordinance, the police can do more: separate groups of young people and, if necessary, order them to leave Zandvoort. Those who cause nuisance may be fined. “We are talking about really large groups here. Not about three or four young people,” he explains.
Carree sees that they come to Zandvoort separately and gather on the boulevard. This mainly happens in the part between the north and south sides of the village.
