Why the European price cap for gas will finally be introduced, but your bill will not be lower | Economy

The European Commission has prepared a proposal for a maximum price for gas. But the triumphant atmosphere that prevailed in Belgian circles in September is still not very noticeable. Energy minister Tinne Van der Straeten (Green) said in August that such a ceiling could save every family up to 770 euros per year. Not much is being done about that now, because the price limit is too high to use. “It is a compromise à la Belge at European level, purely for the sake of form,” says energy researcher Joannes Laveyne (UGent).
