Why the Berlin concerts could not be banned

The calls for consequences for Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann are getting louder. In this context, the “Row Zero” concept has already been banned in Munich. In addition, there will be no after-show parties. There are also demands for such measures in Berlin. Some go even further and demand the cancellation of the concerts that will take place from July 15th to 18th in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The capital’s culture senator, Joe Chialo, has now commented on the facts.

The most important thing first: “There is currently no legal leverage for a ban on the concerts, as is already being demanded in some cases,” said the CDU politician on June 6th. Chialo also warned against prejudice. Nonetheless, the allegations must be taken seriously. “We are moving between two very important goods: the presumption of innocence as part of human rights on the one hand, taking allegations seriously and the right to integrity on the other. And I take the allegations made by these women very seriously,” said the 53-year-old. A ban on after-show parties and Row Zero would definitely be an option for Berlin. Rammstein singer Lindemann is accused of abusive behavior by several women.
