If there is something that characterizes electoral defeats, they are never orphaned. They always have a father, and a DNA is not necessary to know that in this case it is Javier Milei. As the Buenos Aires elections ended up becoming a plebiscite about their management, the more than 13 points of difference that Peronism brought to freedom progresses are its exclusive merit (its forgiveness Axel Kicillof). But the truth is that there is also a mother. It is Karina, the president’s sister, who with her prominence of the last weeks in the campaign caused everything to become uphill. An unwanted prominence, of course.
To the Secretary General of the Presidency, it is known, they indicated it as the alleged receiver of coimas of 3 percent among pharmaceutical companies that have contracts with the State. That was said head of the National Disability Agency, Diego Spagnuolo, in the audios that appeared at the least indicated moment for the government, when everything was played in elections that comprise 40 percent of the national electorate.
The Coimagate immediately resulted in judicial actions, memes and songs in the soccer shoes and the recitals. He turned an uncontrollable snowball: between 15 and 30 percent of the Mileista supporters, according to the surveys, they thought of changing their vote following the scandal. And so it ended up happening: if one looks at the result of Sunday, Lla retreated with respect to the presidential 2023 and returned to his hard core of around 30 points that he obtained in the passage prior to the pact with the PRO. The yellow voters who joined for the second round of that year now seem to have regretted.
Karina did it, not only with the scandal of the coimas, but also with her relentless strip towards Mauricio Macri, whom she humiliated in Caba in the elections that renewed benches of the legislature and forced to transvest on violet in the Buenos Aires elections. Pro candidates had to put uniforms with the libertarian color and the alliance between both parties was called … Freedom advances. How was I not going to bother the macrista voter who already looked sideways at Milei?
To top it off, the president had no better idea than to embrace his sister Karina in the closing act in Moreno, against what all political communication manuals dictate: when there is a problem, it is convenient to hide it, not put it under the reflectors. And the same did in yesterday’s speech, where the sister shared again with him and the advisor Santiago Caputo. Milei does not learn.
An attentive read to image surveys was enough to understand that Karina should not be part of the campaign after coimagate. He was not asking the president to give it -at the end of accounts, it does not serve as a fuse because he has the same surname -but he does not show it so much with everything that had been at stake.
Now, his rival in the Palaciega internal of the iron triangle, “Santi” Caputo, already directed his cannons to the cousins Menem, “Lule” and Martín, who seconded the sister not only in the electoral assembly that excluded the soldiers of the advisor, but also in the vericuetos of the scandal of the coimas, where both dentters of Carlos Saúl appear involved. “Lule” as an alleged informal collector and Martín as a link with the Argentine Swiss drugstore, the alleged channel of the bribes. “The Gordo Dan”, the chief of the caputist trolls in the networks, already gave indications to Milei so that the government throws ballast: “DT, order the team,” he instructed him at the request of “Santi.”
Will Karina let the star advisor pass it? The truth is that it is not at your best to insist on that battle. Caputo has been asking that at least “lule” Menem fuses to decompress the case of coimas and social moody, as explained in private.
Milei listens to him and for now he decides anything.
Karina only accumulates anger. He will have the opportunity to take revenge if the advisor continues to pull the rope.
