Hélène Hendriks is seen by many as the new big star of SBS 6, but the viewing figures for her Staatsloterij show are still a bit disappointing. How come? “Put her on stage!”
Talpa believes in Hélène Hendriks so much that they have signed her for another five (!) years. That hardly happens in the current TV landscape: even big names are expected to freelance these days. The presenter probably received a nice salary increase, but of course that has to pay for itself.
Hélène wants more
Hélène started last weekend as presenter of the renewed Staatsloterij show, but that was a bit disappointing with 594 thousand viewers. How is that possible with Hélène as a figurehead?
How does she view it herself? “I really enjoyed it, but it is of course not that relevant what I think about it. We expected it to attract between 500 and 700 thousand viewers. Well, then you are actually perfectly in the middle, but of course I hope that it will increase,” she says in RTL Boulevard.
From show trap
There is some criticism of the show here and there. How does Hélène view that? “We have to try to take into account the criticism that has been there. Look, the disadvantage is of course: everything has already been recorded, so you can only do a few things during the editing. But that is of course something we are working on.”
RTL Boulevard reporter Aran Bade thinks that Hélène needs a little more glamour. “I did miss a magnificent opening with Hélène, because if you have that, a studio like that again… You know how expensive it is to make this these days. Then let her get off a show trap!”
‘Very nice!’
Does Aran think the scores will drop or rise next weekend? “I think that RTL and SBS will both have a very exciting Saturday evening. Who will drop? If you drop after a second, it will be difficult, but I think they will both remain stable, to be honest, because it is something new that people want to see.”
In any case, TV authority Tina Nijkamp is enthusiastic. “Hélène Hendriks is doing it very nicely as always, I think. Very pleasant, very relaxed, very contemporary,” she says in her podcast.

Fellow critic Victor Vlam also spoke positively about her studio show in Hélène’s talk show. “You can come again next week!” the presenter then shouted.
Shownieuws was initially lyrical. “The Staatsloterij show with Hélène Hendriks attracts many viewers despite competition,” read the headline. This has now been changed to: ‘The Staatsloterij Show with Hélène Hendriks attracts quite a few viewers despite competition.’
