Less than two years ago, Gordon reopened the Blaricum branch of his coffee shop Blushing with much fanfare, but now he is selling it again. Why exactly? “I live next door!”
Gordon made a big splash two years ago with the reopening of his catering business Blushing in Blaricum, but yesterday he suddenly announced that he was selling the place again. New owners, who also run the local business Rust Wat, close the business for a week and then come up with a different concept. Why is this?
Great surprise
Celebrity expert Bart Ettekoven finds it striking. “We all remember how that opening went. It was all painted up. It was a huge party, Gordon’s style. It had a grand opening. The whole of Gooi had to know: ‘From now on you have the most delicious coffee here!'” he says in Show news.
He continues: “The surprise was great when he suddenly said: ‘I’m quitting! It’s over!’ I read it and I thought: eh! I thought it went really well and he had a great time there!”
Good proposal
Gordon responds in front of the Shownieuws camera. “A few weeks ago I received a very good proposal and then I thought: what do I still want in life? And then I thought: yes, this opportunity may never come along again. It has been a very difficult decision, because this is my child and it is something that you have built up.”
He continues: “I live next to the business and that was precisely the problem, because you are confronted with it every day. So I had also decided to move back to Amsterdam, to my apartment in Noord, and then this happened. I thought: I don’t believe in God, but I thought: thank God, thank you.”
Other things
What will Gordon do now with the time that becomes available? “I’m moving on to other things. Of course, I still have my other business in Amsterdam and people respond well to my travel vlogs. So I want to travel more, but that’s almost impossible. It’s a good decision.”
Patty Brard thinks that Goor does not really fit in with the Gooi. “You can put the Amsterdammertje in the Gooi, but you can’t get the Amsterdammertje out or anything. That will never become Goois. I have also wandered around in the Gooi for a long time, but I don’t want to live there either.”
At your door
Patty now lives in Almere and she likes that better than Gooi. “Not that it is less or anything, but if you are used to Amsterdam, you want to stay in that area more.”
Bart: “I think he is mainly attracted to the fact that he lives next to his work and then the risk is of course incredible that you are busy with your work 24 hours a day. They knock on your door with everything. I think that really breaks him down, in combination with that radio show.”
Patty concludes: “He is very early of course and he is holding up well, I think.”
