We have never seen Merel Ek sitting at the table at Today Inside, while Thomas van Groningen has already made it to a place among the men of VI. “It’s about time now.”
Some guests who initially sit at the bar of Today Inside move on to the table after a while, where they can talk to Wilfred Genee, René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen for an entire broadcast. TV authority Tina Nijkamp has also experienced this; she usually sits at the bar, but has also made it to the table.
“I couldn’t!”
That’s quite exciting, Tina admits in the column In The Walkways. “I thought that table was more exciting. Other than that I think it’s okay, I’m chill. I like both, a bit of variety. Yes, you asked me for next week, but then I really can’t. That was at the table.”
Why doesn’t she come? “Then I have something with my family that I have to go to. Then I really couldn’t. That certainly comes first. No, I like both. I always find it very pleasant. On Fridays the atmosphere is a bit more relaxed.”
Where is Merel?
Wilfred Genee then thinks of the transfer students at VI. “Thomas is already at the table, but Merel hasn’t made it to the table yet either, I remember.”
Tina: “No, only at De Oranjezondag and -summer, but not here, no.”
Wilfred: “Isn’t Merel ready for the table?”
Tina: “Yes, it’s been a long time.”
“She doesn’t want to!”
Wilfred thinks it’s crazy. “Why don’t we have Merel at the table anyway?”
Political reporter Hannah Warner, who sat on the VI stool yesterday, said: “I think Merel has to sit at the table now that I have taken that stool.”
Wilfred: “I just realized that she doesn’t want to. I think that’s a shame. I think Merel is good. I also thought she was very good during the debate.”
Tina concludes: “She really is a great talent. I can see her presenting a show within the next five years.”
