It was not a face: the huge dress with which Trijntje Oosterhuis was on stage in 2015 of the Eurovision Song Contest. TV stylist Arno Kantelberg recently had a big fun on television: he jokingly called her a ‘black teletubbie’. And that while she would actually perform in a different dress, namely the so -called tear dress.

Last minute

Why did Trijntje pull that tear dress last minute out? Once and for all, the singer now gives clarity De Telegraaf. “It was noticeable that I looked in the camera quite printed in my year. Let me just reveal what the reason was for that. A week before the event I only found out that I was three months pregnant.”

Her daughter Maël was in her belly. “And that made me very dizzy and sick in Vienna there in Vienna. I was just not in top form and you clearly saw that on the stage. Only I couldn’t tell anyone. Even the crew knew nothing, even though it struck me that I didn’t drank any more wines in the evening.”

Dizzy

Because of that pregnancy, Trijntje could no longer handle that tear dress. “As for that last-minute dress change: I would have liked to have attracted the original, but it was conceived in combination with high heels, which made me dizzy in my situation. So that wasn’t going to be.”

In the end, Anouk, the writer of Trijntje’s then song, ridiculed that outfit. “Anouk did her say, but it is also good that people now hear the real story with retroactive power.”

Angry

Is Trijntje actually angry about the spicy criticism that Anouk then expressed? “I have never really been angry with her criticism, because she could just say that.”

“She is a good artist who can have her own opinion great, but I choose not to let me out negatively about others. You don’t get along with that. We don’t talk to each other so often since that time.”
