It is a bit scared for the company’s employees if the site is suddenly full of armed agents with face covering. It turns out to go a police checktogether with the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), Environment Service, the Water Board and the Labor Inspectorate.
Owner Jos Borst was not present at the time of the check. “I was called that there were armed agents with balaclavas in the yard,” he says. “The people who were working were quite shocked. We look up enormously from the way it went, it was pretty impressive.” Inspectors of the Labor Inspectorate also asked employees if they had to work. That turned out not to be the case.
Dusty site
Although the presence of face covering agents made a great impression, the police emphasize that there was no question of heavily armed units. The officers present were armed as regular police officers are.
“They also wore stab -resistant vests, just like every agent. But no bullet -proof vests,” said the police spokesperson. The other services present may not wear weapons.
According to the police, the face -covering clothing was worn for two reasons: to protect the identity of the agents – so that they cannot be approached or threatened personally after the check – and because of the dusty conditions on the site.
Necessary dominant
“In addition, we have learned from previous experiences that people sometimes try to get rid of things,” explains the police spokesman. That is why the agents and specialists spread directly and quickly across the site on arrival to ‘freeze’ the environment in police language. “That may be experienced as dominant, but it is necessary to maintain the situation as found,” said the police spokesperson.
During the check, the police found 250 liters of prohibitions. “We are still investigating the precise composition,” said a police spokesperson.
