The fight for the balloon d’Or is as open this year as it has not been for a long time. On Monday, the prestigious price will be awarded by the French specialist magazine “France Football” in Paris.

After the triumph in the Champions League, several players from Paris Saint-Germain can calculate good chances of the award as the best footballer of last year.

The Ballon d’Or is awarded as a media prize by the French magazine “France Football”. One journalist per country in the top 100 in the FIFA world rankings is entitled to vote. The voice comes from Germany from the “kicker”.
The journalists choose a TOP 10 with the number of points 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. From these points the overall ranking results.

For years, the balloon d’Or was a duel between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The dominance of the two superstars has been a passé for some time.
Messi won the award for the last time in 2023, CR7 won his last balloon d’Or in 2017. Rodri from Manchester City, who prevailed against Vinicius Junior at the time, is reigning title holder. The choice caused a scandal because the representatives of Real Madrid subsequently boycotted the gala.
