A violent episode shook this Monday morning at city of San Cristobalin the province of Santa Fe, when a student entered a school armed and murdered a classmate. The event occurred in the School No. 40 Mariano Moreno, minutes after the start of the day.
As confirmed by local authorities, the attacker – a teenager between 15 and 16 years old – took a gun out of his backpack and began shooting at other students who were in the internal courtyard, where they were waiting for the flag to be raised around 7:15 a.m. As a result, a 13-year-old student died and at least two others were injured.
Before the media, the municipal government secretary, Ramiro Muñoz, He indicated that the incident was initially reported by the monitoring center, upon detecting an unusual situation when the students began to run out of the establishment. According to initial information, the aggressor used a heavy-caliber firearm.
“We learned about it through the municipal monitoring center. The boys were doing surveillance and noticed an atypical situation, noticing that all the boys were running out of the school,” added the official, who pointed out that the minor had used a shotgun.
Teachers at the institution pointed out that the young man had no history of violent behavior and that his previous behavior had not raised alarms, which generated even more commotion in the educational community. Official sources confirmed that the aggressor is 15 years old and is in his third year at the establishment. The victim, meanwhile, was in his first year.
The authorities are now investigating how the minor gained access to the weapon and the circumstances that triggered the attack in a town where he never had a history of that type of crime. San Cristóbal is a Santa Fe city, head of the San Cristóbal department, founded in January 1894 and located 179 km north of the capital city Santa Fe.
