For two days, Cristian Auguadra’s Facebook account was left open like an unblocked window. An error that would be a mistake for any official, for the new spy chief, directly disconcerted the entire Intelligence community. The account had everything: selfies on airplanes, selfies with family, selfies in different places around the world, links, memories, work cards and even her son’s driver’s license, with a visible address. A clumsiness that, behind closed doors, they still cannot fully explain.
The strangest thing was not even the content, but the negligence to preserve privacy on the part of a SIDE official. Auguadra had already worked in the organization since last year. His entry as Inspector General of Internal Affairs had given him access to the internal machinery, to the hallways where summaries are reviewed, where reserved funds are audited and where every movement is recorded.
Reports
At Casa Rosada they saw him often: records show between two and four visits per month for the last five months. In June he came in twice for meetings; in July, four; in August, three; in September, four, and in October, three. Most of those talks were with Santiago Caputo, the presidential advisor. And he was almost always accompanied by José Lago Rodríguez, the man Caputo put in the SIDE to organize the legal and administrative affairs of intelligence.
One auditor and another contract expert, managing the SIDE. The painting is peculiar. In the spy ecosystem, two hypotheses are mentioned about this duo. One: that the technical couple arrived to make transparent an organization used to managing budgets without too many explanations. The other: that they landed for the opposite and that the purpose of the surgical administration is a more extensive diversion of funds. Whispered comments, nothing more.
Past
Auguadra has a professional career far from the world of Intelligence or Security. His work was always close to numbers: tax advice, legal consulting, risk analysis, public management. In 2000 he founded Interpesos SA, a credit intermediation company that combined databases, digital platforms and commercial licenses. In 2004, the Macri administration proposed him for the board of directors of Banco Ciudad.
He was involved in complaints for alleged irregularities with public securities, a case that did not prosper judicially, but which highlighted his closeness to the Macri administration. Years later, in 2012, he created West Transfer SRL, a private transportation firm that operated until 2015 and that, in addition to tourism and corporate service, moved into areas such as concessions and real estate sales in the western area. +
Counterintelligence
In 2013 he set up a company called AV Brokers Inmobiliarios with his wife Valeria Fillmore. In 2021 he created another one called Cerrito Broker together with Héctor Hermida, with whom he also worked in the Argentine subsidiary of the consulting firm specialized in business advice Global Consultancy Services. His formal arrival at the SIDE was in November 2024, with a sensitive position: Inspector General of Internal Affairs. On December 2, 2025, President Javier Milei appointed him as head, with the explicit endorsement of Santiago Caputo.
In that context, the leak of his Facebook left a strange feeling, especially because no one detected the failure for two days. Even less among the agents who work in Counterintelligence, those who spend half the day searching for other people’s digital traces. They didn’t see her coming. More complex challenges await Auguadra than accommodating his privacy, but the beginning was abrupt. The Facebook account has already been closed.
