While Belgium agrees to an EU emergency law to block Russian assets, De Wever still warns of “the sword of Damocles”

Belgium voted on Friday in favor of the emergency law with which the European Union wants to block Russian assets for an indefinite period, but continues to call for an alternative to financing Ukraine without using those assets. That same day, Prime Minister De Wever emphasized his support for Ukraine during his visit to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, but only if Belgium can count on the support of other European countries and their allies for the enormous risks.
