Xavier Naidoo plans a comeback concert. The 53-year-old singer, who became famous with the band Söhne Mannheim, as a solo artist with hits such as “This Weg” or “I know nothing (which is as beautiful as you)”, then converted an appearance as a confessing racist and top conspiracy meter.

After years of break, which was accompanied by massive criticism of his political and social statements, he has been standing before his first big appearance in six years. On December 16, 2025, Naidoo will perform in the Lanxess Arena Cologne. For the first and only time this year.
An unprecedented crash took place. Expressions with absurd conspiracy and system criticism, allegations of anti-Semitism, democracy and even an indictment for sedition shaped the public image of the singer.
The consequences were not long in coming. RTL threw Naidoo 2020 out of the jury of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” after a video with problematic statements appeared. Numerous appearances were canceled. The musician withdrew more and more.
Sorry, retreat – and now the comeback?
In 2022, Xavier Naidoo released a video in which he apologized publicly. He spoke of “wrong ways”, of “mistakes” that he regretted today. The singer distanced himself from previous positions, asked for a forgiveness for his disturbing statements and explained how deeply certain life events had shaped him. This apology split the public. For some it was a credible step back to reason. For others only a tactical maneuver.
Afterwards it became quiet around him. The only noteworthy exception: Moses Pelham, a long-time companion and Frankfurt rap legend, brought Naidoo back as a guest singer for his farewell album published in 2025. Pelham narrowly commented: “We are friends.” But many fans rated this feature as a cautious musical rehabilitation.
Cologne concert as a turning point?
So now the comeback attempt. On a big stage, with band, in front of thousands of fans. The concert in Cologne should be much more than just a musical event. It is a symbolic step. Can an artist who has fallen so deeply can find recognition again? Can music fuel over scandals – or does the shade of the past stay over the spotlight?
