Private boss Evert Santegoeds wonders what happened to Kees van Nieuwkerk, the son of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. “He has disappeared from the face of the earth since the break with Carice van Houten.”
More than ten years ago, Kees van Nieuwkerk, the son of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, seemed like a rising star in the film industry. As a director he delivered films such as Strong Stories, Pak Van Mijn Hart and Ja Ik Wil. It was during the same period that he had a love affair with the famous actress Carice van Houten. What has happened to Kees since then?
Comeback Carice
Private boss Evert Santegoeds wonders about it in his podcast Strictly Private is about Carice’s comeback. She is going to star in a Dutch film again. “It’s incredible. For the first time in seven years. She has become very critical, she says, of what she is offered.”
He continues: “Well, she can suffer that, because she has played in Game of Thrones for how long and she must have earned a lot of money from that. For the first time in seven years she has shot a Dutch film again.”
Where is Kees?
The new film with Carice is called A Family and is about divorced parents. “That is a theme that appeals to her very much. She is of course divorced herself and her son is now ten. She still sees his father regularly in America, but that has not turned out to be the eternal love that it first looked like.”
Evert continues: “She abandoned Kees van Nieuwkerk, who will never be mentioned again, at the time. We have never heard from Kees van Nieuwkerk since Carice broke up with him.”
Earth’s surface
Kees doesn’t even have an Instagram page anymore. What happened, Evert wonders. “He made one film after another, the son of Matthijs, but has disappeared from the face of the earth, it seems.”
“And Carice only does what she feels like. That is demonstrating. She is against environmental pollution, but if anyone has a lot of Delft blue houses in their kitchen, it has to be her.”
