The easing of the Ebau rules has increased the difference in average grades between autonomous communities

There are moments in a person’s life that are marked in red on the calendar and that the previous days turn anyone’s stomach. One of those passages that many young people nervously experience is the dreaded exam of Selectivity, which opens or, in the worst case, closes the doors of the university.

Despite the fact that a student can access the university center of any autonomous community, the Evaluation of the Baccalaureate for University Access (EBAU) that is carried out in each region is different and the data reflects it. In fact, the results obtained by the students show up to 7.7 percentage points of difference between the autonomies. In this sense, the average number of passes in Spain was 94.4%. Therefore, the question is obvious: where is it easier to pass the selectivity?

But, before getting into the matter, we must clarify that, as in previous calls, the students of Baccalaureate they have faced simpler tests due to the pandemic context, since the measures that have had to be adopted have made it difficult to learn and prepare for the tests.

With only nine failures, La Rioja obtained the highest percentage of passes of the country in university entrance exams, a year in which eight autonomous communities have raised the success rates of their students and an equal number of territories have registered decreases.

Although the data may suffer some small difference after the processes of revision and claim of the exams, the high number of young people from La Rioja of Baccalaureate who have successfully passed the Ebau stands out: 99.36%, although the previous year they already obtained optimum results. results (98.65%).

Basque Country

In it Basque Country97.62% of the 12,107 students who took the Ebau in the ordinary call passed, compared to 98.35 in 2021. The differences were greater depending on the language in which the exams were taken: in Basque they passed the 98.45% (9,092 students) and in Spanish 94.95 (2,727).

The Rioja

In La Rioja, 1,397 students passed the ordinary call for the Baccalaureate Assessment for University Access, which supposes 99.36% of those who showed up, with only nine failed, while five registered did not show up, according to the Government of La Rioja. This is the highest pass rate in the last ten years and is 9 tenths higher than the previous year, which was also the highest up to now; In 2020, coinciding with the time of confinement, on the contrary, the worst pass rate was produced, only 90.6%.

Regarding the results obtained, the average grade was 7,599, a figure practically the same as that of the previous year, which was 7,554.

Castilla la Mancha

In Castile-La Mancha, 95.04% of the 7,729 bachelor’s students presented they raffled the tests. According to information from the Office of the Vice-Rector for Students of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), the data corresponds to the compulsory phase and there were 7,346 students who passed that phase, 383 have failed and 40 have not appeared. The percentage of passes in June 2021 it was 96.4%, 93.8% in 2020 and 95.94% in 2019.

Andalusia

In Andalucia, 96.28% of young people who attended the PevAU passed, which means 37,702 out of a total of 39,159 examined. This percentage increased compared to the result obtained the previous year, when 95.65% satisfactorily passed the exams, according to the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities.

Canary Islands

In the Canary Islands93.63% of the students presented to the June Ebau at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria passed the test. In the general phase, there were 5,131 applicants, of whom 4,804 passed the test.

In 2021, 92.71% were suitable; in 2020 it rose to 89.3% and in 2019 it was 95.48%.

The ordinary call at the University of La Laguna resulted in a pass rate of 92.84%, corresponding to 4,396 people out of the 4,792 who applied. Of that total, 339 did not pass and 57 stopped taking the test. It is a percentage significantly higher than the pass rate of 2020, which was 88.92%, although that was a special call, since the unusual figure of 5,021 registered was reached.

Galicia

In Galicia they approved 93.22% of students, 0.28% more than the previous academic year (92.94%)

Estremadura

In Extremadura, 93.57% of high school graduates passed; in 2021, 96.04% were qualified and in 2020, 89.99%. The average grade for all subjects in this edition has been 6.92 points compared to 7.14 the previous year.

Valencian Community

In the Valencian community, 97.79% passed the PAU and the average grade obtained was 6,634. Of the 19,882 students in the compulsory phase, 19,438 were suitable, thus maintaining a percentage similar to that of 2021, according to the Generalitat.

Balearics

In the Balearic Islands, 96.5% of the young people who took these exams passed them successfully. The average access grade for those who passed, calculated using the average for the Baccalaureate, was 7,239 points, slightly higher than the 7,217 of the previous year, when the pass rate was 92.5%.

Madrid

In the Community of Madrid, 94.52% passed the 2022 edition of the test, a percentage slightly lower than the 94.9% of 2021, while in 2020, in the first Ebau of the pandemic, 93.1% of the examinees of the old selectivity passed.

Navarre

In Navarre, 97.73% of the students they passed the test compared to 98.35% in 2021. Of the 3,310 students enrolled in the compulsory phase, 75 failed and another 10 did not show up, reported the Public University of Navarra.

Aragon

In Aragon, 97.03% of Aragonese students successfully passed the exams, compared to 97.88% in 2021.

Castile and Leon

Asturias

Cantabria

In Cantabria, 96.52% of their students passed the test. Of the 2,644 enrolled, from 57 high school centers and schools in the region, a total of 2,552 achieved the necessary points.

Murcia

In Murcia there was a 93.1% suitable compared to 95.6% of the previous year.

Catalonia

In Catalonia they approved 97% of those presented. This means that a total of 31,987 students passed the university entrance exams (PAU) of the 2022 ordinary call. And the average PAU grade (general phase) of these students was 6,870 (6,862 in 2021).
